The Fall of Entourage

Attention Entourage viewers. I am sad to say that we are witnessing the demise of one of our favorite TV shows. Seasons 1 & 2 were great, but it's gone downhill ever since.

Here are some reasons:

1) The main reason is the Billy Walsh character. I haven't hated a television character this much since Dawson Leery.

2) We now have 2 teams. Turtle & Drama v. E & Vinnie Chase.

3) Ari should be more of a focus. He's the best part of the show.

4) Since when did Ari have a son?!

5) What happened to Turtle's love interest? One episode she's there. The next episode she's gone.

6) Where's the conflict? What's next? I really don't see much conflict and I definitely can't see where this is going. Academy Award? Who cares?!

Ok. Now on to the music.

Since I haven't posted for almost a week, I thought I'd share some music that's been in the rotation recently.

Rilo Kiley - The Moneymaker

Shout Out Louds - Impossible (Studio remake)
(Went to the show last Thursday. They closed the show by working in a cover of The Clash's Train in Vain into their song Very Loud. Amazing end to a great show. Check them out!)

Grand Ole Party - Look Out Young Son
http://www.myspace.com/grandoleparty
They play a great live show. Very impressive. Check them out if you get a chance!

Tegan & Sara - Back in Your Head
Our favorite Canadian lesbian identical twins are in town from the 24th - 27th. Unfortunately, the shows are all sold out except for today's show at Amoeba.

Cloud Cult - Take Your Medicine
BUY THE ALBUM! Meaning of 8

Editors - Weight of the World
Good album. I'm still trying to decide whether I like it better than the latest Interpol. I'll make a decision soon.

LCD Soundsystem

Song of the Day:

LCD Soundsystem - All My Friends

"You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan / And the next five years trying to be with your friends again."

The following Slate article does a great job of describing this song... enjoy!

(the article also includes links to the other versions of the song)

Will Ferrell:
Chazz Reinhold: So how's my protégé?
John Beckwith: Jeremy, believe it or not, is getting married!
Chazz Reinhold: What? What an idiot! What a loser! Good! Good! More for you and me.

Flight of the Conchords

Last night I was fortunate enough to check out the Flight of the Conchords show at the El Rey. Easily the highlight of the night was when they brought the 2 guys that dub their voices for the Spanish version of the show on HBO Latino to repeat their song in Spanish. It was hilarious!
.
Check them out if you ever get a chance!

Song of the Day:
.
As a big fan of Interpol, I was disappointed with their latest album, "Our Love to Admire." I wouldn't say it's bad, but I don't think it's great either. Worth checking out if you're a fan.
.
They'll be in town October 23, 2007 @ The Great Western Forum. Presale tickets went on sale today... Password: ADMIRE. (floor seats are still available)
.
Recommendation of the week... Spoon's latest, "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga", which was released this week. It has something for everyone. Worth purchasing.

Will Ferrell:
"Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby'' won the ESPY award for Best Sports Movie over "We Are Marshall'' Wednesday night at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.

The Maccabees

The first time I heard this band, the first thing that came to mind was how they got their name. Turns out the band came up with the name "The Maccabees" by leafing through the Bible and stopping on a random page.
The band's energy and lead vocals make The Macabees a joy to listen to.
Attached are a few of songs for your listening pleasure....

The album is definitely worth purchasing.

.......................................

The new Interpol and new Smashing Pumpkins albums were released today.

......................................

Ricky Bobby: Dear Lord baby Jesus, or as our brothers in the south call you, jesuz, we thank you so much for this bountiful harvest of Dominos, KFC, and the always delicious Taco Bell. I just want to take time to say thank you for my family. My two beautiful, beautiful, handsome stricking sons, Walker, and Texas Ranger, or TR as we call him. And of course my red hot smokin' wife Carley, who is a stone cold fox.
Cal Naughton Jr: mmm...
Ricky Bobby: Dear tiny infant Jesus...
Carley Bobby: Hey, um... you know sweetie, Jesus did grow up. You don't always have to call him baby. It's a bit odd and off puttin' to pray to a baby.
Ricky Bobby: Well look, I like the Christmas Jesus best, and I'm sayin grace. When you say grace, you can say it to grown up Jesus, or teenage Jesus, or bearded Jesus, or whoever you want.

Disco?

Music of the summer = Gay Disco

Yes, gay disco is getting ready to take over the summer airwaves. Don't be afraid to embrace the movement.

These cheery, flamboyant songs will help get you through the trend....

Datarock - Fa Fa Fa
Ween - Friends
Mika - Love Today

Enjoy!

(note: I can't believe my first post is about this genre of music.)
